11 Things I Learned My First Two Years Working in Nashville

They say over 80 people move to Nashville everyday. Whether you’re an artist, a manager, a journalist, etc., the more Nashville grows, the more people dream of moving to and working in Music City. When I moved here from Chicago two years ago to intern for CMT, I hardly knew anyone or anything about the city, I was just excited to be surrounded by country music and countless opportunities. My bright-eyed, 20-year-old self had a lot to learn.


There’s no doubt the city is full of exciting parties, incredible concerts, famous people, and more bars than you can count. If you’re looking to build a career here, there’s a lot more to think about than the fun and games. After spending the last few years working in radio, music marketing, television and journalism here, let me let you in on a few secrets and life lessons that will help you get off on the right foot and set yourself up for success.
